BORDER PATROL

A game of calculating strategy for two players, ages 14 – adult

GOALS

SMUGGLERS: get total of $25,000 in Smuggler Item Values to cities by delivery in trucks, boats or airplanes.

POLICE: reach Hiring Goal of: 34 City, 15 Coast Guard, 20 State, 10 Federal agents by using captured smugglers' value.

WINNER The first side to reach its goal. In case of a tie, Police win.

EQUIPMENT 18 Smugglers; 7 illegal aliens; 34 City, 15 Coast Guard, 20 State, 10 Federal, 2 Planning Sheets, 2 Data Sheets, 2 wax pencils, Playing board map of USA, Die

SET UP Roll die, highest number is Police. Police take 15 City, 7 Coast Guard, 14 State, 6 Federal agents and a DATA SHEET, A PLAN SHEET, and a wax pencil. Smugglers take 18 smugglers, a DATA SHEET, a PLAN SHEET and a wax pencil.

POLICE          The City agents are green and can only be used at truckstops. JURIS-    Coast Guard agents are blue and can only be used at waterports. DICTION           State agents are red, can only be used at truckstops and airports     The Federal agents are yellow and can be used at truckstops, water-                  ports or airports.

BEGIN In secret: The 18 Smugglers are marked on their PLAN SHEET.

Only one smuggler can be on a transport space each round.

Using Police Jurisdiction, agents are marked on their PLAN SHEET.

Only one correct police agent can be on a transport space.

When the PLAN SHEETS are done, the Police place their agents on the             map transport spaces. Then the smugglers are put on the map to see                    if DELIVERY or CAPTURE has occurred. Either side can verify the                         PLAN SHEETS with the map placements.

DELIVERY

Smugglers who do not have a Police agent on their transport space or have made a delivery.

CAPTURE

Smugglers who have a Police agent on their transport space are trapped and Police throw die for each smuggler trapped. Roll 1 or 6, smuggler wins DELIVERY. Roll 2,3,4,5, police wins a CAPTURE.

Delivery values are marked on the PLAN SHEET, ITEM VALUE, smuggler.

Captured values are marked on the PLAN SHEET, ITEM VALUE, police.

Total the Item Values for Smugglers and Police. Put the TOTALS under             ITEM VALUE TOTALS on the DATA SHEET for Smugglers and Police.

Only the Smuggler item value is captured or delivered. The 18 Smuggler players and added Illegal aliens are used each round. If an incorrect police agent is discovered, that agent is not used for that round.

SCORING      Record each transport space DELIVERY or CAPTURE onto the PLAN SHEET.

Total the ITEM VALUE for smugglers and for police. Put the TOTALS onto the DATA SHEET ITEM VALUE TOTALS each round.

HIRING

At the end of each round the Police use the ITEM VALUE TOTAL on the DATA SHEET to hire more agents of each type according to the POLICE HIRING COSTS on the DATA SHEET. The new police agents are used to capture smugglers each round thereafter. The police agent types hired can not exceed the GOAL listed on the DATA SHEET. Any unused value is carried over for the next round use.

ILLEGAL ALIEN

If the smuggler carrying the illegal alien is uncaptured at the end of the rounds, a new illegal alien smuggler is added to the Smuggler side. Illegal alien smuggler value is always $400. As many as seven new illegal alien smugglers can be added and follow the same rules.

NOTE:            Wipe the plastic PLAN SHEETS clean after each round for reuse.

COPS & ROBBERS for THREE PLAYERS RULES

The rules for three players are the same for two players, except:

One player is the Cops.

The other two players divide the 16 Robbers in half, 8 per team. Each Robbers team has a Plan Sheet and plans and plays separately.

Each Robbers team has a separate Den for its Loot and the Cops have to choose which one to attack per turn.

A Robbers team can only JAIL BREAK one of its own team.

If both Robbers teams are on a space and there are no Cops on that space, then both teams get credit for that Loot piece.

If any Cops and any of both Robbers teams are on the same space, then the dice thrown by the Cops is for both Robbers team.

The CHANCE CARD instructions are for all three players to follow per turn.

If both Robbers teams are not all IN JAIL after seven turns, then the Robbers team with the most Loot pieces wins.

     WINTER TIME GOLF

Purpose

To learn the basics, language, and strategies of Golf for ages ten to adult; one to four players.

Goal

Complete nine holes with the lowest total number of strokes.

Equipment

     4 playing boards; 4 bags of clubs; 4 balls; Spinner; RISK CARDS;

4 CLUB DISTANCE CARDS; Score Pads; 4 pencils

     Spinner

The arrow shows: 1)SHORT YARDS or LONG YARDS to use on the CLUB DISTANCE CARD; 2)RISK; and 3)SAND

     CLUB DISTANCE CARD

Lists the DISTANCE NUMBER for each Club Type in SHORT YARDS and LONG YARDS.

     RISK CARDS

Add or subtract or compliment the player's turn.

When the spinner arrow also points to the RISK area, take the top card and follow the instructions.

RISK CARDS are NOT used for the Putter.

     SAND

The ball can be put into a Sand Trap by a RISK CARD or by the Spinner. To get out of a Sand Trap, the player must use a Wedge or 8 Iron or 9 Iron in the next turn.

The SAND Trap is NOT to be used for the Putter.

To Start

Each player takes a bag of clubs and a ball, a Score Pad and a CLUB DISTANCE CARD. Choose the order of players. Mix up the RISK CARDS and place them in a stack face down.

To Play

Each player takes one twist-spin on the Spinner per turn. After all the players have taken a turn spinning and marking their Score Pads, the next round begins. After all the players have made their ball IN HOLE, all the players move onto the next hole.

Begin at Hole 1 and play through the 9 holes.

     1st Tee Off

The first player puts a ball between the red tee-off blocks. Then picks a Club Type and puts it beside the ball.

     2nd Spinner

Finger-thumb twist the Spinner around more than two revolutions.

When the Spinner stops, look at the area the arrow points to.

LONG areas are colored yellow and SHORT areas are colored green.

If the arrow points to the areas' dividing line, spin again.

     3rd CLUB DISTANCE CARD

Take the CLUB DISTANCE CARD in hand and find the Club Type you used that turn. Find the correct DISTANCE NUMBER in yards for that Club Type under that area the Spinner arrow pointed to.

     4th Score Pad

Take the Score Pad in hand. Mark a -1- under STROKE. Mark the Club Type under CLUB. Mark the yards DISTANCE NUMBER under L/S RANGE.

(ex 1 Club Type = #1 Wood / Spinner arrow - Long Yards= 255)

     5th RISK CARD

Some cards subtract yards, ex.2. Some cards add yards, ex.3.

Some cards add a penalty stroke, ex.4. Some cards tell you which club to use on your next turn. Some cards just compliment the player.

Mark any change under RISK. Mark the corrected yards under YARD DISTANCE on the Score Pad. Put the RISK CARD on the bottom of the face down pile.

(ex.2: Ball hit a rock, bounced back 10 yards.)

     6th SAND Trap

If the arrow is also pointing to a SAND area, LONG or SHORT, then in the next turn that player must use only a Wedge or 8 or 9 iron.

     7th TURN OVER

A player's turn is over after Spinner and marking the Score Pad and following any RISK CARD instructions. The rest of the players in turn twist-spin the Spinner, mark their Score Pads and follow any RISK CARD instructions.

     8th ROUND OVER

After all of the players have had a turn the round is over.

At the end of each round all the players add up the yards in their YARD DISTANCE column. Put the total on the Score Pad on the "T" line under YARD DISTANCE, ex.5.

(ex.5: First Hole, First Player's "T" after the second round)

Then each player compares their YARD DISTANCE "T" to the Flag Stick distance to see if their ball is in one of the FOUR CATEGORIES below.

     9th FOUR CATEGORIES

If any player's ball is NOT in one of these four categories, then that player's turn is over and must play in the next round.

If any player's ball IS in one of these categories, then that player follows that category's instructions in the next turn.

     Hit-the-Flag

If the YARD DISTANCE "T" number is the SAME as the flag stick distance and NOT in a Sand trap, then the player has Hit-the-Flag.

(ex.6: Hole #1 is 275 YD and the "T" number is 275)

Then the player must twist-spin the Spinner.

Take the CLUB DISTANCE CARD in hand and look at the Putter line.

If the arrow points to any SHORT area, the ball is IN HOLE and the player's turn is over. Add up the STROKE column and put the total strokes in the SCORE column of the Score Pad for that hole. In the above ex.6 the SCORE would be 2 for Hole 1.

If the arrow points to any LONG area, the ball is MISS HOLE. The player's turn is over and in the next turn the player must use the Putter.

     On-the-Green

If the YARD DISTANCE "T" number is 15 yards LESS or 15 yards MORE from the flag stick distance and NOT in a Sand Trap, mark a 'Yes' under ON GREEN on the Score Pad.

(ex.7: Hole #1 is 275 YD and "T" number is 260, 265, 270, 280, 285 or 290)

In the next turn the player must use the Putter.

     Past-the-Green

If the YARD DISTANCE "T" number is 20 or 25 yards MORE than the flag stick distance, mark a 'no' under ON GREEN on the Score Pad.

(ex.8: Hole #1 is 275 YD and "T" number is 295 or 300)

In the next turn the player must use the Wedge. The Wedge yard DISTANCE NUMBER will subtract from the "T" YARD DISTANCE so the ball will go ON GREEN, ex 9.

(ex.9: Hole #1 is 275 YD and "T" number is 295 or 300)

In the next turn the player must use the Putter.

     Out-of-Bounds

If the YARD DISTANCE "T" number is 30 yards or MORE than the flag stick distance, add a 1 stroke penalty. Drop the ball on the green and mark a '*yes*' under ON GREEN on the Score Pad.

(ex.10: Hole #1 is 275 YD and "T" number is 305 or higher)

In the next turn the player must use the Putter.

     10th Putter

Twist-spin the spinner more than two revolutions.

DO NOT use RISK CARDS or SAND areas when using the Putter.

Take the CLUB DISTANCE CARD in hand.

If the arrow points to any SHORT area, then the ball is IN HOLE.

Mark 1 stroke under the STROKE column. Add up the Strokes and put the total in the SCORE column of the Score Pad for that hole. Then that player's turn is over, ex.11.

If the arrow points to any LONG area, then the ball is MISS HOLE.

Mark 1 stroke under the STROKE column on the Score Pad. That player must use the Putter again in the next round.

After three strokes with the Putter mark the Score Pad IN HOLE and the player's turn is over, ex.11.

     11th Ball in Hole

After a player's ball has gone IN HOLE, that player is done for that hole and must wait quietly while the other players get their ball IN HOLE.

After all the balls are IN HOLE, each player adds up the total Strokes for that Hole. Each player marks the total under SCORE on the Score Pad.

All the players then move onto the next higher numbered hole.

All the players repeat the To Play procedure for each hole.

     12th n Case of a Tie Score

The tied players continue playing until one player has the low score.

     13th Game Over

After all players complete the nine holes, each player adds up the stroke totals for each hole marked under SCORE on the Score Pad.

The lowest total number of strokes is the winner.

Purpose

To acquire all card items or $50,000 first.

The Set Up

A banker, responsible for disbursing and collecting the monies and item receipts for the bank, is selected.

Mix-up the Game Cards and put them face down in a stack in the center of the playing board.

Mix-up the Career Cards and put them face down in a stack in the center of the playing board.

Equipment

     Money: 30 each: $10,000; 5,000; 1,000; 500; 100; 50; 10; 5.

     Item Cards: 4; Game Cards: 36; Career Cards: 15;

     Item Receipts: 36; Dice: 2; Playing pieces: 4;

     Playing board: 1.

To start

     Each player throws the dice, the highest total;

          a) randomly selects a career card, then

          b) places a playing piece on Pay Day, then

          c) receives the career salary from the bank, then

          d) receives an item card.

The rest of the players follow this procedure clockwise.

The first player rolls again and moves the playing piece along the board counting each square as one.

A player may buy, sell or trade acquired items during possession of the dice unless a lose-turn occurs. A turn ends upon completion of all instructions and after the dice are passed to the next player. A turn ends immediately when a lose-turn occurs.

The Play

The ranking of sequence of the game action is:

1st) do board square instructions, then

2nd) do game card instructions, then

3rd) if throw double dice, roll dice for another turn.

End of Game

     Occurs when a player:

          a) has acquired a full house, all nine items owned;

                             or

          b) has accumulated $50,000 cash.

In case of tie: first to have all nine items with most cash, wins.

When the playing piece stops on a board square the player complies with that square's instructions:

          a) Items - a player may buy an item by paying full price of item of square landed on. If already own the item landed on, a player may buy a second item (for trading or selling to another player).

          b) Lose Turn - the turn is immediately ended (double dice bonus is canceled).

          c) Yard Sale - a player may buy any one item at half its price, except for the house item.

          d) Auction - a player may gamble to buy any TWO items at half their price. The items are selected and the dice thrown: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 buys;                9,10,11,12 does not buy.

e) Change Career -

              1) turn-in old career card and any game card attachments,

              2) select a new career card from the face down pile,

              3) receive the new salary from the bank.

          f) Jail - when sent to Jail no transactions can occur for that player. No Pay Day or Bills Due if passed on the way to Jail. After missing turn (s) play resumes by throwing dice and moving that amount.

Visiting Jail - is for landing on the Jail square by the amount on the dice. No penalties occur.

When passing by or landing on these squares, comply with their instructions:

          a) Pay Day - each player receives the career card salary plus any current game card attachments which may add or subtract from that salary.

              b) Bills Due - all players pay $1,000. When the HOUSE item is owned that player pays only $500 Bills Due.

Double Dice

     When both die have the same number of spots face-up;

          a) the player moves the total number and complies with board square instructions stopped on. If not a lose-turn, then

          b) takes a game card from the face down pile and complies with the instructions, then

          c) takes another turn by rolling dice and moving that total, if double dice repeat procedure.

Game Cards

When double dice are thrown, that player takes a face down game card and complies with the instructions, then places the used card face up in the used stack.

When a player stops on a TAKE GAME CARD square, that player takes a face down game card and complies with the instructions, then places the used card face up in the used stack.

If all the Game Cards are used, mix-up the Game Cards and replace them face down in a stack in the center of the board.

Career Cards

Indicate a player's salary throughout the game unless instructed to change career by the board square or a game card. A few game cards add or subtract to the salary and attach to the player's career until a new career change is instructed.

A career card is randomly selected from the face down pile at the start of the game and when instructed to Change Career. The player receives that salary when the card, or a new card, is selected.

Items

The nine items may be acquired by:

          a) landing on an item square and buying at full price,

          b) landing on the YARD SALE or AUCTION square and selecting to roll for an item (s) at half price,

          c) trading items with other players,

          d) buying items offered for sale by other players.

Item Receipts

When an item is bought from the board the player gives the banker the purchase price and the banker gives that player the Item Receipt. The player places the Item Receipt on the Item Card.

Debts

Monies owed from buying items or from board and game card pay instructions must be paid when occurred. No money may be borrowed during the game. When monies are owed:

     a) pay cash to bank,

     b) if insufficient cash, items owned must be sold to the bank at half price until the debt is paid,

     c) if no items to sell, all remaining cash must be returned to the bank. Then the player takes another turn by rolling the dice and moving that total.

ROLL and MOVE

Object            Win three stars. A star is won by the player with the most Playing Shapes on the selected Playing Board color at the end of each round.

Equipment      Playing Board, Die, 4 Board Color Cards, 12 stars,

Playing Shapes: 9 circles, 9 squares, 9 triangles, 9 hearts

Set-up THREE PLAYERS: Use Playing Board for three players. Place three of each Playing Shape on each Playing Board color. Mix-up the three Board Color Cards and place them face down on the Playing Board.

FOUR PLAYERS: Use Playing Board for four players. Place two of each Playing Shape on each Playing Board color. Mix-up the four                       Board Color Cards and place them face down on the Playing Board.

Begin

Each player rolls the die. The highest number is the First Player and chooses a Playing Shape. Then the second highest chooses a Playing Shape, then the third and forth. Players sit behind their shape at the Playing Board corners.

Play

First Round

The First Player rolls the die. The number up is the amount of Playing Shapes that player must move about the Playing Board. Taking turns clockwise, each player rolls the die and moves that amount of Playing Shapes about the Playing Board. Any Playing Shape can be moved from a Playing Board color to a different Playing Board color.

Board Color Card

After all the players have rolled the die and moved the Playing Shapes, then the First Player selects a face down Board Color Card. The player with the most Playing Shapes on the selected Playing Board color wins one star. If there is a tie for the most Playing Shapes, then all tied on the selected Playing Board color win one star. Place the Board Color Card back in the face down pile and mix-up the cards.

Next    Round

DO NOT put the Playing Shapes back in the Set-up Positions after any round. Each Next Round begins with all the Playing Shapes left on their Playing Board color positions from the previous round. Play each Next Round the same as First Round, then Board Color Card.

Game Winner

The player to win three stars first is the Game Winner. If there is a tie of three stars at the end of a round, then those tied roll the die and the highest number up is the Game Winner.
